Requirements:
The qualification is suitable for on-site foremen/supervisor with experience in site supervision. You will need to demonstrate that you have the necessary skills and knowledge to plan and organize work activities, liaise with site management and other contractors, provide contract information to operatives, organize delivery and storage of materials and equipment, ensure Health and Safety on site and regularly check quality of work against relevant standards.
Assessment Process:
The most common way to achieve your NVQ is called the On Site Assessment and Training (OSAT) and involves an assessor collecting evidence of candidate’s skills by workplace observation and questioning. In case of Occupational Work Supervision it is very important that additional paperwork evidence is gathered by the candidate showing that the person regularly carries out Supervisory tasks such as conducting Toolbox Talks and Safety Inductions, ordering and receiving deliveries of materials and taking part in site meetings. This evidence can be in the forms of Toolbox Talks and Induction Safety registers signed by the candidate as well as Delivery Notes, Purchase Orders and Minutes of Site Meetings with the candidate’s name on them. Copies of these documents are normally easily obtainable from the candidate’s employer or client.
How long does it take?
We will always make sure that your qualification is achieved in the shortest possible time by using assessment methods tailored to your circumstances and constantly updating you on the progress of the assessment.
CSCS
You can apply for a temporary Supervisory CSCS card while being assessed for your NVQ which is valid for three years. On completion of the assessment you will be able to apply for a permanent CSCS Gold card valid for 5 years.
